22. Packers 27, Seahawks 17 (2015)

It seemed like Green Bay always had to play in the Northwest against Seattle. This was the first time the Packers had hosted the Seahawks in the regular season since 2009. It was only three consecutive games played in Seattle, but it felt like more than that. It was also the first game between the two since the Packers gave the Seahawks the NFC Championship game the previous season. Seattle was still without the services of All-Pro safety Kam Chancellor, who was holding out. The Packers would score 11 fourth quarter points to finally knock off the Seahawks 27-17 at Lambeau Field.

Green Bay was able to march down the field on its opening drive for the first points of the day. Aaron Rodgers had a 22-yard pass to Randall Cobb to move into Seattle territory. On a 2nd-and-15 from the Seahawks 29, Rodgers was able to draw Seattle’s Michael Bennett offside and then threw a strike into the end zone to James Jones for the score. On the play, Jones had a step on All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman and Rodgers threaded the needle and the Packers took the early 7-0 advantage.

Seattle lost five yards on its first possession, and after the punt, the Green and Gold started with great field position at the Seahawks 44. Three plays gained them seven yards and Mason Crosby nailed a 54-yard field goal to give Green Bay a 10-0 lead.

Steven Hauschka responded with a 54-yard field goal of his own to put the Seahawks on the board. It would stay 10-3 until late in the first half.

That is when Green Bay was able to regain the 10-point advantage. A sack on first down moved the ball back to the 13, but then the Packers moved 77 yards in two snaps. On the first snap, Rodgers would launch a pass deep down the field to Ty Montgomery, who was open. But Sherman came in at the last moment to hit the rookie before the ball arrived, so it was a pass interference. On the next snap, Rodgers had great protection and rolled to his right and found an open Cobb for 25 yards down to the 10. The Packers would move to the 1 on the next play, but since they were without any timeouts left, Green Bay had to pass twice since there was less than 20 seconds left in the half. Both passes were incomplete and Crosby had to kick a chip shot field goal to give the Packers the 13-3 lead.

Pete Carroll really woke up the Seattle offense at halftime, as the Seahawks come out on fire in the second half. On the first play of the half, Russell Wilson found Luke Willson for 24 yards. Three plays later, he found rookie Tyler Lockett for 17. Wilson would move the Seahawks down the field and find running back Fred Jackson for the 5-yard touchdown and the lead was down to 13-10.

After Seattle’s defense forced a three-and-out, Seattle drove 54 yards for the lead. Wilson either rushed or passed for all 54 on the drive, and it ended with a touchdown pass to Doug Baldwin to give Seattle its first lead. It was a five play drive for the Seahawks and every play except for one was a play that would result in double digit yardage. With the score, Seattle took the 17-13 lead. That missed opportunity at the end of the half by the Green Bay offense looked pretty big at this point.

The Packers would drive down and get another Crosby field goal to cut it to 17-16, which would be the score heading into the final quarter.

Rodgers would put Green Bay back on top early in the fourth quarter. He would throw for 78 yards on a drive that would put the Packers in front for good. The score came on a pass from Aaron Rodgers to Richard Rodgers. On the touchdown, Aaron Rodgers bought time by rolling out to the left and throwing a bullet to Richard Rodgers on the left side of the end zone for the score. Aaron would also complete the two-point conversion to Richard and the Packers had a 24-17 lead with 9:28 remaining.

The dagger would be inserted soon after. On the following possession, Wilson was trying to throw a short pass, but was intercepted by defensive lineman Jayrone Elliott, who returned it to the Seahawks 37. Following the pick, Green Bay proceeded to take nearly five minutes off the clock on a drive that would end at the Seattle 3. The short Crosby field goal was good and Green Bay had a 27-17 lead with less than two minutes remaining.

Green Bay would force a Jackson fumble on the next Seahawks drive to seal the game. The Packers would take a knee to secure their first win over Seattle since a 48-10 win at Lambeau in 2009 (although it should have been 2012).
